Turkey Trot 10k on Thanksgiving Morning

Another PR! I finished with a time of 1:20:16 - 12:56 pace! This was my second 10k race, my first was in May with a finishing time of 1:26:09 - 13:52 pace. The one in May was very hot and I think that was part of the reason.

I am noticing that with my Garmin Forerunner 210 that I am now wearing I am pushed harder because it does not tell me my pace average like my 305 did, only my current pace. I always have a goal of just setting a PR but with this new Garmin I never know for certain if I am doing it so I run harder. This is the perfect combo of the watch telling me the info I really need to know; my heart rate, distance and how long I have been running, while not giving me so much info that I become distracted with the numbers and forget to just enjoy the run.

Tropical Storms Really Disrupte Gym Workouts

Last week I took my rest day on Friday and then I was really busy on Saturday. As a result, I just walked on Saturday and figured I would do my long run on Sunday. Unfortunately I do not have cable and tend to ignore local news for days at a time. And I live in central, coastal Florida. So, I woke up on Sunday and figured I would go t the gym when the rain stopped and then it never did. Luckily my mom knows I am clueless and called to say, “You do know that is a tropical storm, right?” Oh.

Garmin Forerunner 210 - finally purchased one and it shipped out to me today! I had planned on waiting till August but first Healthy Buddha posted that she had gotten one and I almost died of jealousy and then Road Runner Sports sent me an email for a 1-day $25 off sale so I figured it was fate.
I have been using the Forerunner 305 for a little over 2 years now and although it works great the size and weight of it have gotten annoying. I also bought it before they came out with their heart rate straps that are soft all the way around so I have had constant chaffing issues with the hard plastic. The reality is that it just does more than I even need and watches should not be unisex.
When I went to a fitness expo last month I spoke with a Garmin rep about what I would be using it for and he recommended the 210 as his first choice. Hope he was right!
