Back to Trail Running

Well, after 10 months of not running I completed 5 1/2 miles over Saturday & Sunday. Overdid it a bit, in that I am pretty sore, but I loved every minute of it. I am looking forward to getting back into a routine so that I do not have to force myself to stop when I need to. At 3 1/4 miles on Sunday I really wanted to just keep going and I love it when I hit that “place” in a run. But I also knew I would really pay for it, and risk injury, so I stopped.

Finally went running yesterday! It had been 10 months and felt great. Tough to call it “running” when I was out for 50+ minutes and accomplished 2.35 miles but I don’t care. If I ran at all, I was running. The boardwalks were very slick with the morning dew on the algae infused planks so it was kinda shuffling when I was on there. Hoping to go out again this morning!

Hi there, I was just looking at SI joint pain on tumblr and read that you know some exercises? Yes, i've looked online for a bunch, but i'm really curious to know what your favourite one was, and what one helped you the most! Much, much appreciated.

If I am going to be totally honest, SI joint pain is one of the most frustrating issues I have ever dealt with and the exercises drove me nuts. None of the exercises I did were the type where I saw any immediate results which made it very hard to stick with them. This is crazy, of course, the exercises are not meant to fix the issue in one go, but there you have it. 

Of the three main ones I stuck with, the knee to chest stretch was the one that would frequently give me immediate relief while doing the stretch. As a result I often use this stretch since recovering because back pain is a constant issue with me. You can see this stretch performed here.

(The other two I performed while recovering was the Prone on Elbows into Press-up and the Lower Trunk Rotation)
